Aescape is looking for a Controller who can lead financial operations and drive strategic financial decision-making to ensure operational excellence and compliance as we scale our organization. You’ll be collaborating cross-functionally with senior leadership and operational teams as we achieve our ambitious growth goals and revolutionize the massage therapy industry. This is an amazing opportunity for you to own transformational change and develop your leadership capabilities as we set new standards in innovation and efficiency. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

This role is based out of NYC

Aescape is the NY-based lifestyle robotics company redefining self-care.

Backed by $128MM in funding from investors like Valor Equity Partners (an early investor in Tesla and SpaceX), we launched the world’s first-to-market AI-powered robotic massage experience with Equinox in August 2024 and quickly went viral: WIRED, Fast Company, Popular Science, Sports Business Journal, Fortune, Vogue and Bloomberg are only some of the leading publications that have covered our technology, with celebs like Will Smith posting about us.

Since then, we’ve announced partnerships with global industry leaders across hospitality, pro sports, corporate wellness, and luxury real estate — with more on the horizon as we supercharge growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Financial Reporting and Compliance: Handle the review of all accounting treatment and standards, oversee payroll, establish internal controls, and lead the relationship with external auditors.

  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and prioritize compliance and operational risks, developing mitigation strategies.

  • Cash Flow and Financial Planning: Manage cash flow forecasting and establish financial guidelines and best practices.

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Review balance sheet reconciliations, manage equity-related transactions, and oversee the consolidation of financial statements.

  • Operational Efficiency: Set reporting timelines, manage vendor and partner relationships, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency within the team and wider organization.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing mentorship and guidance.

What You’ll Bring

  • Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations. ASC 606 & 842 experience strongly preferred.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage teams, delegate effectively, and motivate others.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to identify trends, analyze financial data, and make informed decisions.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to identify and resolve complex financial issues.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years of management experience. Preferred: 12+ years with experience scaling large teams.

  • CPA License: An active CPA license is required.
