AOA Dx is seeking a Scientist, Mass Spectrometry. Our revolutionary tumor marker ganglioside platform, GlycoLocate™, is paving the way for life-saving early cancer detection.™

We are seeking a talented and experienced Scientist with a degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field with specific experience in techniques using Mass Spectrometry and HPLC. In this position, you will be responsible for running, troubleshooting, and independently designing and performing high throughput experiments on our state-of-the-art LC-MS/MS and HPLC instrument(s). This role requires a deep understanding of mass spectrometry, HPLC, large scale “omics” analysis methods, and hands-on instrumentation and method development experience in a mass spectrometry-focused lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design and execute high throughput experiments examining lipid content of serum using a tandem MS platform for either biological characterization or analytical platform development
  • Independently analyze lipidomic data to draw conclusions on either cancer biology questions or analytical platform development
  • Independently design method development experiments for analyte separation, detection and quantification using HPLC with ELSD
  • Independently plan quarterly goals, metrics and milestones and be able to track to those over time
  • Work with other scientists, research associates and technicians to plan and divide up work on a weekly basis
  • Present findings and progress to a diverse range of individuals in team meetings
  • Operate, maintain and optimize LC-MS instruments with precision and accuracy
  • Troubleshoot instrument issues, calibrate instrumentation and perform routine maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and results using an electronic lab notebook
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of analytical methods.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and advancements in mass spectrometry technology.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or chemistry or related field.
  • Candidates with M.S. or B.S. degrees with compensating expertise and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining HPLC/ LC-MS systems.
  • Knowledge of biological sample preparation and extraction techniques for downstream LC-MS and HPLC analysis
  • Required years' experience in biotech or pharma industry is based on degree as follows: 2+ years is preferred for candidates with PhD or 3+ years is required for candidates with M.S or 5+ years is required for candidates with B.S.
  • Proficiency in LC-MS and HPLC operation and troubleshooting is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain precise records.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The actual compensation and seniority level for this position will be determined based on relevant experience and qualifications.
