Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

Archer's thermal team is looking to hire a thermal engineer with a background in 3D CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)modeling (StarCCM+ preferred), 1D analysis tools, and strong fundamentals in doing hand calculations or back of the envelope calculations.

The individual will work on various multi-disciplinary projects for various part of the aircraft thermal management for eg. Engines, batteries, Wings etc.

Apart from running analysis, the individual will have the opportunity to develop / drive test plans and participate in hands-on testing

Direct experience in an Aerospace / Automotive settings preferred but applicants from all other backgrounds will be considered

Requirements

5-7 years of industry work experience, working on real life projects; from analysis based design, to operational issues, failure analysis. Phd or Research experience doesn’t count
Strong fundamentals in thermal analysis and fluid flow. Ability to run 3D CFD is not sufficient
3D Complex geometry CAD cleanup, meshing. Familiarity with commercial CAD tools for extracting / manipulating geometries
Testing experience in terms of developing and driving test plans to validate models / analysis
Experience in Python or matlab scripting experience and developing 1D thermal models - Complex RC network
This role requires the employee to be onsite in Archer’s San Jose, CA office.

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
