Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the selection of outside paint facility for production Aircraft
  • Lead the selection of an integrator for designing and standing up an internal automated paint facility
  • Develop automated paint processes for a full composite Aircraft with an Expanded Copper Foil (ECF) surface film including all applicable specifications with a third party integrator
  • Develop a paint process that accurately controls the paint thickness across each part
  • Manage and approve the paint facility integrator layout and plan
  • Lead the implementation of the Archer paint facility, including equipment validation and approval
  • Lead the development of the tooling required for painting and transporting within the paint facility
  • Author work instructions for internal paint processes
  • Author quality control and buy off plan for both internal and external paint
  • On-site support of outside paint vendor
  • Production support for paint facility

What you need:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering , or similar discipline
  • 7+ years as a Paint Manufacturing Engineer, Paint Process Engineer, Coatings Engineer, Paint specialist, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of how aircraft coatings are applied and prepared
  • Must have the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively to support troubleshooting and performance validation
  • Experience with model based definition

Location

  • San Jose, California
  • This role will move to Covington, Georgia in 2024 to support launching our high volume manufacturing facility

At Archer we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our business. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $108,000-$135,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
