Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What You’ll Do:

In the Sr. BMS Verification Engineer role, you will verify that Archer’s high voltage battery management and charging systems satisfy their requirements – enabling the use of electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft for urban air mobility.

Specifically, you will

  • develop test cases and models to verify battery control and estimation algorithms in model-based environments,
  • design, implement, and automate test cases for development and regression testing on Hardware-in-the-Loop platforms,
  • maintain traceability between requirements and test results; produce required artifacts to support software certification, and
  • work with cross-functional teams to verify and troubleshoot battery management and charging system algorithms at component, subsystem, and aircraft levels.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Model-, Software-, Processor-, and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing
  • Experience with test platforms such as dSPACE, National Instruments, Speedgoat, etc.
  • Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink design and test workflows
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, e.g., Python
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, Ethernet, etc.
  • Experience with CAN software tools, e.g., Vector CANalyzer
  • Experience with requirement management tools,
  • Excellent organization and communication skills

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with high voltage battery systems
  • Working knowledge of lithium-ion battery electrochemistry and electrothermal models
  • Experience with new product development in regulated industries (e.g., aviation, medical devices)
  • Experience with DO-178C software verification and ARP4754 development process
  • Experience with ISO 26262, ISO 15118, and SAE J1772 standards

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $134,400 - $168,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
