Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 100 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

Archer’s Powertrain Engineering group is looking for highly motivated students to support the Engineering Teams. Roles support the Electric Engine program including design and manufacturing of Rotor, Stator, Inverter, Gearbox Assembly, Power Electronics, and Final Assembly.

What you’ll do:

  • Work on the design or manufacturing of rotors, stators, gearbox assemblies and auxiliary components.
  • Design aircraft electric engine components, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment in Siemens NX.
  • Complete engineering tests, analyze data, and document results.
  • Create training/work instruction documentation for assembly and installation.
  • Solve challenging engineering problems involving structural and thermal analysis.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to build and test an aircraft electric engine.
  • Support technical and program management interactions with our suppliers

What you need:

  • Rising senior in Undergraduate Program or Masters student at accredited college or university in an engineering or science discipline
  • Knowledge of Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics.
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW, Matlab, Python, or similar test automation tools.
  • Experienced with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or any microcontroller kits.
  • Candidate is curious and has a “Get it Done” attitude.
  • Ability to learn and adapt within an ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
  • Eager to learn, positive attitude, and highly motivated.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Google suite application
  • Knowledge of Siemens NX 3D Designing CAD Softwares
  • Knowledge of Matlab / Simulink physics based modeling
  • Knowledge of Atlassian Suite (JIRA/Confluence)
  • Familiarity with small passenger aircraft or helicopters

Additional Details:

  • Program duration will be approximately 6 Months starting May 2024
  • Must be able to work a full time schedule (approximately 40 hours per week) at our office location.
