Archer is hiring an instrumentation engineer to drive mission critical work on our propeller team. This is a high-impact and cross-functional role that will work closely with mechanical designers and analysts to optimize our propeller performance.

What you’ll do:

  • Support instrumentation development for a variety of propeller configurations
  • Ensure our instrumentation package will gather flight test data accurately
  • Create plan for sensor selection, including DAQ and power sources
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure key flight data is synchronized with the rest of the engineering org
  • Ensure safety is at the core of our instrumentation package
  • Collaborate with certification engineers

What you need:

  • 5+ years industry experience
  • MS / PhD in Aerospace Engineering or related fields
  • Experience building instrumentation packages for fixed-wing vehicles and/or rotorcraft
  • Proven expertise in helicopter rotor aeromechanics field (including aerodynamics, dynamics, loads, stability, performance)
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to bring together small multidisciplinary teams on high impact, but time limited projects.
  • Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced design environment.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Familiar with FAA aircraft and/or rotorcraft loads and dynamics regulations (FAR Part 23, 27, 33, 35) and associated advisory materials.
  • Experience with instrumentation of articulated rotors or propellers (from test objective definition to instrumentation selection and design, from test execution to data processing and interpretation)
  • Experience with measurements and data analysis techniques
  • Pilot’s license
