Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with the engineering teams to support equipment bring-up and process validation

  • Use manual, semi-automated, and automated equipment to build high voltage battery packs

  • Troubleshoot equipment and processes

  • Debug high voltage battery packs

  • Draft and update standard work instructions to guide others in assembly processes, train others as needed

  • Mentor other technicians

  • Design and build basic lab fixtures and tools

  • Operate machine shop equipment to create simple components and fixtures

  • Procure, install, organize and maintain shop and equipment

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment

  • Perform inspections and measurements of product dimensions using basic metrology tools, (calipers, micrometer, depth gauges, measurement microscope, CMM, etc…)

What you need:

  • Associate’s Degree, or equivalent

  • 10+ years in manufacturing or battery industry

  • Direct hands on build experience with mechanical and electronic assemblies using technical documentation

  • High quality workmanship standards

  • Ability to follow formal build instructions and document deviations

  • Strong soldering, electronics fabrication and wire harness assembly skills

  • Excellent documentation and written communication; proficient using Microsoft Office

  • Basic knowledge of drafting standards (read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings) to produce parts and assemblies

  • Experience using and maintaining machine shop equipment and tooling (drill press, bandsaw, grinders, sanders)

  • Experience using measurement and inspection (caliper, micrometer, height gage, CMM…)

  • Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization methods

  • Experience following all aspects of maintenance safety protocol (LOTO, 5S, Arc Flash, etc.).

  • Experience using PLM, MES, and ERP software

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Direct experience building and testing high voltage battery modules and / or packs

  • Experience with battery end of line testing and battery cyclers

  • Direct experience programming and troubleshooting industrial automation (PLC, robots, gantries, etc…)

  • Basic CAD design experience (i.e. NX, Catia, Solidworks)

  • CNC machining and programming experience (CNC Machining Center/Mill/Lathe)

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
