As our first
Director of People, you will build Avo’s US people operations and talent strategy from the ground up. We are looking for a builder who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to move the company from "0 to 1" on all things HR. You will be a key partner to the leadership team, ensuring that as we scale our US-based commercial and product pods, we maintain our focus on excellence and our mission of helping clinicians save lives.

What We’re Looking For In This Role
- Talent Acquisition: Lead aggressive hiring "spikes" to grow our US-based teams.
- Full-Cycle Recruiting: Own the recruitment lifecycle—sourcing, interviewing, and closing top-tier talent.
- Operational Infrastructure: Design and implement our foundational HR tech stack (ATS, HRIS, payroll) and draft our first employee handbook and compliance frameworks.
- Culture & Engagement: Shape the culture and values for the US organization, fostering a high-performance environment rooted in ownership and accountability.
- Employee Experience: Create a high-impact onboarding experience and design programs that foster connection for a distributed US team.
- Performance & Development: Build lightweight performance management systems rooted in "Written-First" communication and continuous feedback.
Who You Are
- Experienced Builder: You have 6–8+ years of HR experience, with a heavy background in recruitment and experience building processes from the ground up
- Strategic & Tactical: You are comfortable designing 12-month organizational plans while simultaneously managing day-to-day HR operations.
- NYC Connection: While this role is remote-friendly, you have a strong preference for joining our NYC-based team for in-person collaboration and cultural anchoring.
- High Agency: You possess an independent drive and are comfortable navigating the ambiguity of an early-stage company.
- Exceptional Communicator: You excel at distilling complex concepts into clear, concise, and compelling messages—both written and verbal
