The Opportunity
We’re hiring an Engineering Lead to co-own the future of Elion’s marketplace platform alongside our Product Lead. This is a foundational role: you’ll lead and grow a high-performing team, define the technical architecture, and build AI-powered systems that transform how healthcare leaders discover, evaluate, and adopt technology.
You’ll be both strategist and builder—mentoring engineers, shaping infrastructure, writing production code, and leaning into AI across the stack. You’ll thrive here if you love building from first principles, scaling teams and systems, and working closely with product to build the data engine that will power the future of technology procurement for healthcare.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development of the Elion Platform – Own the technical direction and execution across our core systems—including the marketplace platform and data engine—while partnering closely with our Product Lead to ensure tight alignment and high-impact delivery.
- Manage and mentor a growing team – Lead and grow the team as we scale, maintaining a high bar for technical excellence, hiring and team health.
- Architect for growth – Design scalable, maintainable systems that integrate backend, AI, and frontend layers, and evolve with the business.
- Be hands-on – Write production code regularly while guiding broader architectural decisions.
- Leverage cutting-edge technologies and techniques – Build and scale systems that apply AI, LLMs, and modern data engineering to automate ingestion, enrichment, summarization, and intelligent discovery.
- Prototype and iterate quickly – Move from whiteboard to production in days, balancing speed with quality.
- Own reliability and quality – Instrument and monitor systems to ensure performance, cost-efficiency, and output trustworthiness.
- Bring strong product sensibility – Understand how technical choices shape the user experience, and make tradeoffs accordingly.
- Partner cross-functionally – Work closely with research, data, and design teams to deliver end-to-end experiences that meet user needs and push the category forward.
Ideal Background
- 7+ years of full-stack or backend engineering experience, including team leadership.
- Demonstrated success leading complex, 0-to-1 product builds and technical teams in fast-paced environments.
- Strong command of Python and TypeScript (Next.js, React, PostgreSQL).
- Experience shipping LLM-powered systems (retrieval, evaluation, enrichment, agent orchestration).
- Comfortable with ambiguity, fast cycles, and messy data problems.
- Deep product intuition and bias toward clean, human-centric systems.
