Business Insider is hiring a Director of Group Subscriptions to join our Subscriptions team with an eye towards strategic growth, automation, and synergies between our Group subscriptions business and our consumer business.

The Role & Team:

The Director of Group Subscriptions will lead and oversee our Group Subscriptions business.

Subscriptions are critical to the future of Business Insider, and we aim to make group (bulk) subscriptions a larger part of our subscription portfolio and story. The role is responsible for the entire group subscription lifecycle, from lead generation to acquisition to retention. The Head of Group Subs will ensure healthy and strategic growth of our group subscriptions business, with a focus on automation and an overhaul of our strategy with an eye towards new business. This is a role that will require an entrepreneurial, transformational spirit and an ability to make fast progress with a wide mandate.

The Director of Group Subscriptions reports directly to the Head of Subscriptions and sits on the Subscriptions team. This role is an individual contributor, with the potential to grow a team. This position is based in our New York City HQ with a periodic in-office presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, optimize, and scale a strategic, multi-year plan for a Group Subscriptions business that’s in transition.
  • Drive growth strategy of Group Subscriptions; manage existing Group Subscriptions book of business, including renewals, customer success, automation of accounts, etc.; drive new growth in addition to existing book.
  • Continue to prove out BI’s investment in Group Subscriptions by growing the book of business (and profit) year-over-year.
  • Lead the sales process for any high-value and high-potential clients, identifying leads, critical renewals, etc. Liaise with clients alongside more junior members of the team.
  • Lead the strategy for continued automation and optimization of our Group Subscriptions function.
  • Oversee customer success function, ensuring BI’s group subscription customers engage, retain, and achieve their desired outcomes.
  • Identify and implement the optimal tech stack for scaling our business and our subscribers' needs across Group and Consumer Subscriptions.
  • Model strong leadership for the larger subscriptions team, continuously contributing ideas to optimize for growth across the entire subscriptions organization.
  • Collaborate with Growth Marketing to identify ways to grow the Group Subscriptions business, improving conversion and retention.
  • Partner with Subscriptions Intelligence & Analytics and Subscriptions Product & Tech to build out a roadmap and ultimately lead the overhaul of our Group Subscriptions Data.

The Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Experience working in a group / B2B subscriptions environment and a keen understanding of subscription business drivers, subscription monetization, and metrics such as LTV and CACs.
  • Strong prior experience in sales and/or account management within goal-oriented roles. Track record of meeting and exceeding goals.
  • Experience prospecting and managing senior-level relationships.
  • Proficiency using CRM software and other sales tools such as Hubspot, Apollo, Lead IQ, etc.
  • Experience in building and growing a team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral; ability to communicate with clients and senior leaders, both internally and externally.
  • Strong experience and skill with martech and sales platforms, with emphasis on an ability to identify issues and build solutions using platforms.
  • Superior research, organizational, time management, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Proven skills in data analysis, planning, and forecasting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with product and tech teams.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to build relationships, inspire, and develop and implement a vision for a team.

Salary &Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
