Business Insider is hiring a Senior Director of Events to join our Business Insider Live team to lead the production and project management across BI Live events.

The Role & Team:
As a Sr Director of Events you will lead the production team responsible for delivering Business Insider Live’s events to life. You will act as the internal subject matter expert, working across functions to realize an ambitious suite of events.
The Senior Director of Events reports directly to the VP of BI Live and sits on the BI Live team. This position is based in our New York City HQ with an in-office presence of at least 2-3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Production and Planning:
- Lead production planning and execution team for 15–20 annual events, from concept to wrap
- Oversee production scopes, budgets, and vendors (A/V, vendors, scenic, streaming, labor, etc.), build processes that maintain BI Live standards in the production process
- Partner with editorial, creative, partnerships, and marketing teams to bring event visions to life in-person
- Vet and maintain a preferred vendor network, negotiate contracts, and ensure all vendors meet BI’s production standards
- Implement sustainability, accessibility, and DEI best practices across all events
- Provide post-event analysis and production reporting to inform continuous improvement
Project Management:
- Act as main point of contact for assigned events for internal and cross functional teams
- Create project plans and maintain documentation for each event, including timelines, run of show, due dates and scope throughout event planning process
- Act as the primarily point of contact for the client services teams and support client communications as the events subject matter expert, delivering high touch, white glove client experiences and upholding BI Live standards of excellence
Team Leadership:
- Oversee Event managers, create staffing plans and supervise on-site production teams, ensuring seamless execution and contingency planning
- Act as a thought partner to colleagues and leadership on future BI Live events, keep abreast of evolving industry standards and trends
- Represent BI Live onsite to attendees, clients, and vendors
The Ideal Candidate Has:
- 8–10 years of experience in live event production, with a strong portfolio of business or media events
- Proven success managing complex show formats, editorial programming, and client activations
- Knowledge of A/V systems, design, catering and broadcast vendors and best practices
- Strong leadership and crisis management skills in fast-paced, high-stakes environments
- Experience managing production budgets of $250K+ per event
- Excellent communicator and cross-functional collaborator
- Comfortable directing both in-person and hybrid/virtual events
- Ability to be based in NYC and in office 2-3 days per week
- Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings/weekends as needed
Salary & Benefits:
- Base salary: $130,000- $140,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
