We are looking for a strong leader and outstanding lawyer who wants to build a world class legal function in APAC and who thrives in a fast-paced environment and gets excited by lofty goals and challenges. To succeed in this position, you will need to work independently and efficiently. We also make sure to have fun while we resolve issues. As MongoDB’s first lawyer in the region, you will lead many exciting legal projects scaling our rapidly growing APAC business. You will handle contract negotiations and advise on a range of commercial and corporate issues meaningful to MongoDB’s business. This is a full-time position based in Singapore.

Responsibilities

Draft and negotiate cloud and licensing agreements, and other technology contracts
Provide strategic legal and business advice on contract-related issues to a rapidly-growing and high-performing sales organization and other teams within the sales ecosystem
Assist with ad-hoc corporate queries (including some employment law issues)
Identify and implement processes to streamline negotiations and scale legal resources
Develop training resources to enable our sales team to navigate the contracting process effectively
Lead exciting legal projects and assist team members on others as needed
Collaborate with external counsel and other MongoDB legal team members

Requirements

Smart, enthusiastic and driven
Experience working for a US/EU parent company while based in APAC
In excess of 5 years commercial transactions experience, preferably including technology licensing and cloud agreements
Consistent record of success in-house and/or at a reputable law firm
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to understand complex contractual issues, assess risk while exercising strong business judgment, and provide clear legal advice
Curious and passionate about technology
Enjoy working hard and overcoming challenges
Phenomenal leadership and teamwork skills, and willingness to take on new responsibility
Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment and handling and prioritizing multiple projects
While not essential, fluency in one or more of the following languages would be a plus: Mandarin, Korean, Japanese or Thai.
Licensed/admitted to practice in an appropriate jurisdiction
