We are looking for a strategic, self-directed, and results-driven Senior Manager of Global Sponsorship Strategy with a robust sponsorship background to drive and scale an engaging strategy at MongoDB. This person will make a meaningful impact on deepening relationships with our sponsors and partners, upleveling their involvement and experience at MongoDB events, help each partner meet their business goals and objectives while maximizing MongoDB’s sponsorship revenue streams and enhancing attendee interaction with partners at our first and third-party events.

Role Description

The Senior Manager of Global Sponsorship Strategy will be responsible for driving the full lifecycle of the sponsorship process from overseeing the global strategy, designing the benefit and entitlement offerings, demand generation and sales, contract fulfillment, sponsor enablement, sponsorship operations, and on-site management, and results reporting. Our ideal candidate will have a proven record of successfully building a compelling and clearly positioned portfolio of sponsorship opportunities, delivering against revenue goals, and creating exceptional and highly efficient event experiences for sponsors.

You’ll own relationships across MongoDB’s sponsor and partner network to ensure we are positioned to access, leverage, and collaborate effectively, while working closely with the Partner Sales and Partner Marketing teams. This candidate must understand how to manage 3rd party agency resources, and must be able to adapt to changing priorities while operating in an in-person, hybrid, or virtual event world. This role reports to the Director of Global Strategic Events, and this person will collaborate daily with this group.

This role can be based out of our Austin, New York City office or remotely in the North America region.

Responsibilities

  • Define, own, and implement a global sponsorship strategy that integrates MongoDB’s partners into our events in ways that reciprocate high ROI for sponsors and adds value to the attendee experience
  • Create an engaging, partner-centric sponsorship program that maximizes sponsorship revenue; continuously work to evolve the inventory of core package and add-on offerings in unique and creative ways
  • Build a sales strategy and lead goal-setting cycles with Strategic Events, Partner Sales, and Partner Marketing; regularly communicate with these teams in order to deliver on sponsorship revenue goals
  • Prospect, recruit, and negotiate with existing and new partners and sponsors for their involvement in MongoDB events and programs
  • Responsively maintain sponsorship@ inbox, actively follow-up on sponsor inquiries
  • Build and maintain sponsorship tracking tools and processes to enable streamlined contracting, communications, billing, etc.
  • Create and manage sponsorship enablement resources (including one-sheets, presentation decks, maintain online portals/event sponsorship software, etc.)
  • Oversee sponsorship operations and execution of deliverables for MongoDB-hosted events, working with 3rd party agency partners when necessary
  • Provide industry-leading customer service and deliver timely, high-quality communications with to current and potential sponsors pre-, during, and post-event
  • Liaise with MongoDB Legal and Billing departments to ensure speedy and accurate contract returns
  • Research, recommend, and manage external vendors related to internal event sponsorships as needed (lead retrieval, booth fabrication, etc.)
  • Manage sponsorship/sponsor activity onsite at MongoDB events
  • Develop and deliver insightful analysis and reporting for sponsorship performance at MongoDB-owned events; measure and improve sponsor satisfaction through feedback and post-event surveys
  • Own the relationship with the Partner Marketing team and other internal stakeholders to identify new partnership opportunities and to cultivate strategic partner relationships.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • 6+ years experience in sponsorship strategy, sponsorship sales, partner marketing, preferably at B2B technology companies
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Ability to communicate the value proposition of the company and sell the value of sponsoring MongoDB programs and events
  • Experience managing marketing programs with budgets of $3M+
  • Data-driven and analytical in approach to project planning; masterful analysis and reporting skills
  • Solid budget management skills and the ability to manage a quota are required
  • Strong project management and a deep understanding of managing multiple stakeholders
  • Impeccably organized with unparalleled attention to detail
  • Proactive, self-starter, “get it done” attitude
  • Comfort working independently and part of a large, distributed, global team
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting aggressive deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication acumen, with strong active listening skills
  • Solution-oriented with stellar time management skills

  • Proficiency in G Suite and/or Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong presentation building, copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% (domestically) and 10% (globally)

  • Experience working with a technology company
  • Existing familiarity with tools including Jira, Tableau, Salesforce, Eloqua, Iterable
  • Sales experience
