MongoDB is looking for a seasoned Procure to Pay leader who will spearhead the integration of comprehensive Procure to Pay processes, unifying Procurement, Travel, and Accounts Payable into a cohesive global function.This role will report to Senior Leadership within the Accounting and Finance Organization and requires a strategic thinker, but also someone who is prepared to “roll up their sleeves” and be excited to create and build this brand new function. Collaboration with key stakeholders is fundamental to the success of this role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, procurement, and a proven track record of implementing best practices to enhance operational efficiency. This role requires someone who can build, scale, and adapt our processes to support our organizations rapid growth.

This role is based in New York.

Key Responsibilities:

Comprehensive Procure to Pay Integration:

Lead the strategic integration of Procurement, Travel, and Accounts Payable into a unified Procure to Pay function to build a world class function that supports MongoDB’s scale.

  • Develop and implement standardized processes to enhance efficiency and consistency across the organization
  • Engage and partner with internal customers across various departments, understanding their procurement, travel and payment needs, and ensuring a streamlined procurement request and approval process
  • Support the audit process by taking ownership of Procure to Pay cycle requests, ensuring thorough and timely responses to audit inquiries and maintaining organized documentation for audit trails

Enhanced Controls Framework:

Embed a focus on ensuring a reduction of financial statement risk and fostering a mature controls environment within the Procure to Pay function.

  • Improve, maintain and evolve a robust internal controls framework as the company continues to grow and scale
  • Ensuring that controls are designed not only to mitigate risks but also to support the overall integrity of financial reporting
  • Document control procedures and policies clearly. Regularly update them to reflect changes in business processes, regulations, or organizational structure
  • Foster a culture of accountability and awareness regarding the impact of individual actions on the overall control environment
  • Regularly assess and enhance internal controls, working with cross-functional teams to address control deficiencies identified

Strategic Procurement:

Work closely with the Procurement leader to align, develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals.

  • Lead cross-functional teams in identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers
  • Negotiate and manage supplier contracts to ensure favorable terms and conditions
  • Ensure synergy between procurement practices and Travel policies to optimize travel-related spending
  • Ensure sustainable and ethical sourcing practices are embedded in procurement processes

Vendor Management:

Oversee vendor management strategies in collaboration with the Procurement and Accounts Payable leaders.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors
  • Monitor vendor performance and conduct regular reviews to ensure adherence to service level agreements
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
  • Align vendor relationships with sustainability goals ensuring global compliance
  • Work closely with Legal and Security to ensure that vendor reviews are complete and timely

Process Optimization:

Implement best practices to streamline the end-to-end Procure to Pay process.

  • Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs ensuring consistency across Procurement, Travel and Accounts Payable
  • Leverage and optimize end to end PTP processes in partnership with our technical and program teams across our systems - Coupa, Conga, Graphite and NetSuite including Navan & Concur (for T&E), ensuring seamless operations
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations

Financial Analysis, Data Analytics and KPI Development:

Lead reporting and analytics initiatives within the P2P domain, generating insightful reports and dashboards to monitor performance, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making aligned with MongoDB’s financial and operational goals.

  • Develop and monitor meaningful KPIs in conjunction with Procurement, Travel and Accounts Payable leaders to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the Procure to Pay processes
  • Conduct financial analysis related to procurement, travel, and accounts payable activities
  • Prepare and enable consistent auditable and assured reporting of value chain ESG Metrics
  • Collaborate with broader finance teams to ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting
  • Develop and track KPIs related to financial statement accuracy and the effectiveness of internal controls

Team Leadership:

Build and lead the newly formed Procure to Pay department, fostering a culture that values operational excellence.

  • Collaborate with existing leaders in Procurement, Travel, and Accounts Payable to drive and foster a cohesive, results-oriented team culture
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for team members

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferably within technology-centric organizations
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in indirect procurement and finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Direct experience managing end to end Procure to Pay processes and strong understanding and proven track record of industry best practices
  • Proven experience in negotiating and managing supplier contracts including complex cloud contract and partnership relationship management experience
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package.
