Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer 2 is responsible for configuring, building, designing, administering, and supporting MongoDB’s enterprise tools. This role involves collaborating closely with Business System Analysts and other department subject matter experts (SMEs) to tailor tools that enhance and support the processes, systems, and infrastructure essential for our scaling business.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support and build our enterprise tooling configuration and optimization, our stack includes Zendesk, Jira, Confluence, Lumos, Oomnitza, Workato, DataDog, Slack
  • Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards to provide key business insights for internal stakeholders, ensuring data accuracy and supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Execute production system changes in alignment with change management policies and agile sprint/release management practices
  • Manage assigned projects, ensuring they meet quarterly commitments and involve effective resource allocation and utilization
  • Comply with Corporate processes and departmental standards
  • Design and manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with project stakeholders to iteratively test and refine changes or new features. This involves collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure the solutions meet their requirements, collecting feedback, making necessary adjustments, and guiding the process toward final approval and sign-off.
  • Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analyses, with integrations and configuration on the enterprise tooling
  • Convert business requirements or root cause documentation into configuration changes

System Ownership

  • Maintain data integrity and security of assigned systems
  • Design and build data flows between assigned systems and external systems
  • Ensure that assigned systems are meeting minimum service levels
  • Support direct line with vendor support team, if/where applicable
  • Incident Management and escalation of issues and outages
  • Compliance with audit requirements or requests for auditor reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience with SaaS business applications
  • Minimum 1+ year of business intelligence reporting experience
  • Minimum 1+ year of experience in working with linux operating system
  • Basic working knowledge of an API
  • Some experience working within cloud platforms, particularly AWS
  • Experience in developing systems based on customer requirements that enhance productivity and enforce corporate policies and procedures
  • Plus (not required)
    • Zendesk Explore certification
    • BI reporting certification
    • Development in a coding/scripting language
    • Atlassian Certifications
    • Workato Automate 1 & 2

Success Measures

The Systems Engineer will be successful in this role when they can execute the following strategic tasks/responsibilities

  • Maintain an accelerated personal growth path:
    • In 3 months you’ll be fully up to speed on the services and technologies we deploy and maintain, building reports/dashboards, identify gaps and inefficiencies is various systems used within the organization
    • Within 6 months you’ll be actively developing novel solutions to inefficient processes and building custom configuration
    • By 12 months you’ll be thinking largely in terms of efficiency and identifying team systems, support and infrastructure initiatives that align with department goals
  • Communication - Successfully communicate team challenges and support solutions internally and externally, while having the ability to communicate complex technical issues to stakeholders within the organization
  • Research - Collect and analyze feedback from both our internal customers as well as our systems to better understand our clients needs and inform automation/optimization efforts
  • Driven - Proactively take initiative, offering help and identifying opportunities for improvement. Consistently contribute to team success with a self-motivated, results-oriented approach
