MongoDB’s mission is to empower innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data. We enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI. Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build anywhere—on the edge, on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 developers joining MongoDB every month, it’s no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

We’re seeking curious minds like yours to collaborate with full-time engineers, learning standard development methodologies and gaining practical software engineering experience. Interns are fully integrated software engineers who spend the summer pushing production-level code to make lasting contributions to our products.

About our teams

Our opportunities in Barcelona are on our API Experience integrations and Catalog and Routing teams. See below for more information about the specific teams.

API Experience

As part of our team, you will be part of improving our users experience of working with the Atlas Administrative API. You will design and build a part of the API platform, ensuring MongoDB users and developers have a best-in-class experience. You will also have the opportunity to write open-source software such as AtlasCLI, MongoDB Local Atlas Experience, MongoDB Atlas Cloud Formation Resources, MongoDB Atlas Terraform Provider & MongoDB Atlas Go SDK, which helps us provide a "wow" experience to our customers by reducing the cognitive load required to get started on MongoDB Atlas & allow them to easily integrate their applications.

Catalog and Routing

The MongoDB Catalog and Routing team carries the important responsibility of hiding the complexity of building a distributed database system. They implement scalable interfaces with strong consistency guarantees which are used by other MongoDB developers to navigate and organize user data. As a result, their work has a direct impact on the productivity of the entire organization and the success of MongoDB’s horizontal scaling strategy.

Recent work includes the addition of unpartitioned datasets to the catalog such that it can be balanced across multiple nodes without splitting a table’s keyspace, embedding cluster topology components to reduce the operational complexity of running a sharded cluster, and the ability to perform concurrent data definition operation.
