MongoDB's Cloud Engineering team is a diverse group of engineers building together to make data stunningly easy to work with. The team is responsible for a variety of products including MongoDB Atlas, our database-as-a-service (DBaaS) offering and fastest growing product. MongoDB Atlas allows users to deploy fault-tolerant, globally distributed MongoDB clusters in just minutes.

We're seeking a backend engineer to join the Cloud Billing Platform team! The Cloud Billing Platform team is responsible for business critical processes that ingest and process customer usage data from both internal and external sources to support billing millions of customers. It is a constantly evolving technical challenge to scale our systems and meet the needs of the business. Our talented engineers are passionate about code quality, rigorous about testing and correctness, skilled at communicating with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, and effectively scaling our systems.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in New York City for our hybrid working model.

Candidate Profile

  • 3+ years of experience working with a compiled language (Java)
  • Good understanding of Object Oriented concepts
  • Can dive into frontend development occasionally
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Has a passion for problem solving and striving to expand their knowledge
  • Curious, collaborative and intellectually honest
  • Comfortable organizing your own time and propose changes backed by data

Nice to haves

  • Experience with billing or financial systems
  • Experience working on critical production systems
  • Experience working in a distributed systems environment

Responsibilities

  • Delivering high quality code
  • Collaborate with team members on software design, best practices, and troubleshooting
  • Work closely with product teams, considering the user’s perspective while helping the team achieve success
  • Maintaining the balance between timely delivery and research & development
  • Own our core values and adhere to them in your work

Success Measures

  • In 1 months, you’ll have started learning about our system
  • In 3 months, you'll have shipping code into production shipped code and will start to contributing to projects with other team members
  • In 6 months, you’ll be and collaborating with the team to solve tough problems and leading your own projects

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings.
