Splendid Spoon Inc. is a dedicated to shaping the future of healthy, convenient eating through innovative culinary solutions. Our core strategy involves crafting premium plant-centric ready-to-heat meals: delicious, scalable, and high-quality vegetarian and vegan frozen meals and components. We cater to a diverse clientele, including white label, food service, and wholesale customers, as well as our established in-house brands. We prioritize cost- effectiveness and scalability for commercial production, maintaining rigorous food safety and quality standards. Our primary operations are based out of our Woodland Park, NJ manufacturing hub.

As our HR Manager, you will be onsite at our Woodland Park hub, playing a vital role in the success of our team and our mission. Reporting to the Co-founder and Co-CEO, you will be responsible for a comprehensive range of HR functions critical to supporting our diverse workforce, including NJ warehouse and corporate employees (remote and in-person). Your key responsibilities will encompass onboarding and benefits administration, recruiting hourly employees, managing payroll and time and attendance tracking, and serving as the first point of contact for HR processes and concerns. You will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and productive work environment by conducting weekly office hours for feedback, resolving employee relations issues, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Furthermore, you will contribute to employee satisfaction and engagement by supporting and facilitating skill growth, and partnering with team leads to develop experiences that contribute to a healthy and progressive workplace culture – such as events, performance recognition and holiday parties. Your expertise will be essential in supporting the dedicated individuals who develop and produce our innovative food products.

HR Manager (Full time)

Hourly: ~40 hours/week

Responsibilities

  • Onboard NJ warehouse and corporate employees (remote and in-person), helping them select benefits and get set up on Splendid Spoons systems, and assist during yearly benefits election as the point person for Splendid's benefits administrators.
  • Manage timekeeping, attendance, and payroll for NJ hourly staff
  • Conduct weekly office hours with NJ staff to receive and address employee feedback.
  • Be the first point of contact for HR concerns, helping to resolve employee relation issues, conducting investigations when complaints arise, and reporting results back to leadership.
  • Administer and stay up to date on employee trainings (e.g., sexual harassment, inclusion, etc.)
  • Stay up to date on federal, state, and local laws and best practices and update policies to ensure continued compliance.
  • Monitor and improve employee satisfaction and engagement through surveys, focus groups and one-on-one feedback.
  • Manage and execute on special projects for HR as required.
  • Oversee and manage the company’s time and attendance systems, ensuring accurate tracking of employee hours, leave, and absences.
  • Address and resolve attendance issues, including habitual tardiness or absenteeism.
  • Conduct conflict resolution and mediation between employees and/or management to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Manage the annual benefit renewal process, including reviewing plan options and evaluation sot and coverage changes while communicating benefit changes and enrollment information to employees in a clear and timely manner.
  • Investigate and resolve workplace disputes, ensuring fair and timely outcomes.
  • Implement and communicate attendance policies and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Collaborate/process payroll to ensure accurate compensation based on attendance records.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain employee records in accordance with legal requirements and company standards.
  • Support a healthy workplace culture by promoting open communication and mutual respect.
  • Train managers and supervisors on effective conflict resolution and mediation techniques
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive employee issues.
  • Coordinate safety training and awareness programs for employees/supervisors.
  • Plan and coordinate employee events, such as team-building activities, holiday parties, recognition events and wellness initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and update HR Policies in alignment with employment laws, company values and business needs.

Our ideal candidate:

Has 3+ years of experience in a previous HR role, preferably with some experience working in a

production/warehouse setting

Speaks English and Spanish (the majority of our warehouse employees are Spanish speaking)

Has strong verbal and non-verbal communication and interpersonal skills including effective listening

and tactful probing

Feels adept at dealing with conflict resolution, handling uncomfortable situations, and managing

confidential information with professionalism

Has excellent organization and time-management kills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at

once

Has a bachelor’s degree, though equivalent job experience will also be considered

$75,000-$90,000- Depending on experience
