Position Description
The Senior Research Associate, within the Discovery Team, will support production and screening of novel delivery vectors for cell and gene therapy. The Senior Research Associate will have knowledge and experience in cloning and preparing DNA constructs, preferably using high-throughput methods. The primary responsibilities of the role will be to design and produce DNA constructs and work closely with a team to evaluate those constructs in mammalian cells.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Execute molecular biology experiments, which may include techniques such as DNA cloning, high throughput DNA preparation, and PCR.
- Assist in novel high-throughput screening platform development.
- Maintain accurate records of experimental samples through database curation and electronic tracking.
- Conduct experimental analysis and interpretation of results.
- Participate in scientific discussions and lab meetings.
- Perform routine laboratory support tasks, such as lab organization, clean-up, equipment maintenance as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- A Master of Science degree with 0 years of additional research experience or a BS with 3 years of additional research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Expertise in plasmid cloning, bacterial transformation and culture, DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and other molecular biology techniques.
- High throughput preparation of DNA and RNA and/or core facility experience is preferred.
- A strong understanding of molecular genetics and cell biology.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
