Loan Administration at Valon

The Loan Administration team powers all of the operations required to keep Valon running smoothly. From onboarding loans to handling insurance and processing payments, the Loan Administration team ensures that homeowners are continuing to get a first-class experience with Valon, all from behind the scenes.

About the Role

We are looking for an Property Tax Specialist who will focus on taxes but is also able to navigate through multiple facets of the escrow sector of a fast-growing technology and operations-focused business. This role is responsible for maintaining records on mortgaged properties and accurate and timely payment of real estate taxes on escrow and non-escrow accounts. This role monitors the work of the outsourced tax vendors to ensure disbursements are paid on time from customer escrow accounts. The tax specialist will also provide direct assistance to the homeowner by resolving tax-related issues. You'll be working closely with other specialists, as this team and vertical continue to grow!

Responsibilities

  • Execute and problem-solve in day-to-day operations for the servicing business
  • Analyzes escrow sufficiency to ensure escrowed funds are sufficient to make required payments
  • Oversee the movement of check/wire funds relating to tax to ensure timely payment of escrow line items

  • Ensure timely procurement and accurate processing of property tax refunds
  • Execute payments for taxes in batch single processing modes by the installment due dates for the particular payee. Payment processing includes tax disbursement to avoid incurring interest or penalties.
  • Monitor and drive resolution for any delinquent taxes in the loan portfolio
  • Review control reports to ensure compliance with state, regulatory, and investor guidelines
  • Liaise between all third-party vendors and ensure escalations are responded to timely and accurately
  • Sets up new tax payees or makes changes upon request.
  • Complete various audits for the monthly vendor scorecard
  • Adhere to SLA standards/deadlines
  • Making calls to tax authorities and tile companies

  • Lead other escrow responsibilities and projects as assigned by management

Ideal Background

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience at a mortgage servicing company within an escrow function or a tax service provider
  • Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae servicing experience preferred

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent critical thinking and logical reasoning abilities
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to solve business problems and handle change management in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be available to collaborate and communicate in regularly held in person meetings
